The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met today in Egypt, in the Monastery of St. Bishoy, with the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, Pope Tawadros II.
After the meeting, Minister Selaković stated that it was a great honor and privilege for him to be a guest of His Holiness Tawadros II in one of the oldest Christian monasteries, where the relics of the highly respected Christian Saint Bishoy are kept, as well as fragments of the relics of Saint George.

The head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that he was pleased to have had the opportunity to hear and learn a lot from his interlocutor and to be the one to convey the blessings to the Serbian state and church leadership and all citizens of Serbia.


"Here we met true Christian love, we were treated as brothers, gifted as travelers of the same faith who come from afar, and I can say that we leave here filled with the impression of true brotherly love, which we were greeted with from the moment we arrived in Egypt", Selaković said.

Minister Selaković, among other things, talked with Patriarch Tawadros about the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the cultural and religious heritage of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, but also about the position of Serbs in the southern Serbian province.

He conveyed the greetings of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porphyry, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and the faithful Serbian people, and presented him with the icon of Saint Sava, the first archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Pope Tawadros presented Minister Selaković with the icon of Saint Bishoy, and he also presented the icons to the members of the Serbian delegation.
