Collection of 100 intact 26 th Dynasty coffins were unearthed in Egypts Saqqara Necropolis in addition to golden funerary masks a collection of 40 wooden statues of Saqqara goddess Ptah Soker.
Excavations conducted by the Egyptian archaeological mission working in the Saqqara Necropolis resulted in the discovery of three - 12 metre deep shafts, closed for more than 2.500 years, containing 100 intact, sealed and painted anthropoid coffins.
Ambassadors and international media representatives flocked to the scene on Saturday 14 th November to witness the announcement of the new discovery. On site, anthropoid painted coffins were placed in a large tent and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El Enany said that there are many other discoveries that will follow.
