The Egyptian archaeological mission led by the Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Halid Al-Anani, on November 10, 2018, presented new discoveries that occurred during the months of excavation activities carried out in the area of the Pyramid Complex "King Userkaf".
Minister Halid Al-Anani pointed out that this time the mission has uncovered three tombs from the period of the New Kingdom used during the Late Egyptian period, cats necropolis, four tombs from the Old Kingdom, of which the most important one belongs to Khufu-Imhat, the supervisor of royal buildings in royal palace. A rich collection of antiques reveals a diverse content in which, among other things, found 100 wooden gilded statues of cats, a collection of statues that show the physical characteristics of lions, cows and falcons, as well as numerous writing tools.
The archaeological event was attended by the Governor of Cairo, Major-General Ahmed Rasheed, along with members of the Parliament and 30 ambassadors as well Ambassador of Republic of Serbia. On this occasion, the important role that antiques play in attracting the attention of the whole world to the magnificent monuments and promoting the unique heritage of Egypt is highlighted.
