Embassy of the Republic of Serbia together with Serbian community living in Cairo took part in the Samаa’ International Festival being held in the Citadel of Salah Ed-Din in Cairo, from 16 to 21 of November 2013. During the manifestation, the Embassy has exhibited: Serbian landscape paintings of the esteemed Egyptian Professor Mr. Ibrahim Ghazala; documents related to Serbian culture properties inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List (Gamzigrad–Romuliana, Medieval Monuments in Kosovo and Metohija, Stari Ras and Sopocani, Studenica), Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature Ivo Andric and reformator of Serbian language Vuk Karadzic, world famous scientists: Nikola Tesla, Mihailo Pupun, Milutin Milankovic and Mileva Maric as weel as publications related to top world tennis player Novak Djokovic and the Football Federation of Serbia. During the event, Serbian national costumes have been wearing by children of Serbian Diplomats and Diaspora. Presentation of Serbian cultural, civilization and folklore heritage attracted great attention of media representatives and numerous visitors.

The Samaa’ Festival, an international cultural event for religious singing and spiritual music, kicked off on November 16, 2013 in Salah El-Din Citadel, medieval Islamic fortification in Cairo. The festival is organized by the Cultural Development Fund and the Ministry of Antiquities. The festival combines religious and cultural heritage all over the world through the participation of Egypt and foreign countries all over the world. This year the slogan of the Samaa’ – literally translated to mean listening – festival is ‘Message of Peace’. The festival is scheduled to run through until November 21, 2013.
