Serbian Embassy in Cairo hosted on 27th of November 2011 reception in honor of screening documentary movie “Cinema Komunisto” of Serbian director Mila Turajlić. Film was screened on the Program of 4th Panorama of the European Film.

Among attendees were Ambassador of Croatia Darko Javorski, ambassador of Macedonia Mile Manolev, charge d affairs of Embassy Bosnia and Hercegovina Muhamed Čengić and others distungushed guests. Serbian Ambassador Dragan Bisenić wellcomed attendees before film was shown.

Four years in the making, the feature-length directorial debut of Mila Turajlić “CINEMA KOMUNISTO” had an incredibly successful European festival launch, premiering in the First Appearance Competition at IDFA, and going on to win the Alpe Adria Cinema Award for Best Documentary at the Trieste Film Festival, and most recently, the Gold Hugo for best documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival. In February 2011, "Cinema Komunisto" became the first Serbian documentary film to achieve regular theatrical distribution in multiplex cinemas in Serbia. 


The 100-minute documentary examines the creation of the Yugoslav “Hollywood of the East”, the golden age and the fall of the Belgrade Cinecitta, and the way President Tito’s love towards film and his direct involvement in their productions created the story of Yugoslavia on screen. “Cinema Komunisto” reveals the story “behind the scenes”of  a collective mission of a national cinematography using scenes chosen from over 300 Yugoslav films, never-seen-before archive material from film shoots, and Tito’s personal correspondence and comments to directors and film crews.
